GOING, A. THE LEAVING (3:48):
A concept work containing three songs that are thematically linked. Writing on "A" was from Feb 26 to March 11, 1995.

These songs grew independently of each other, and only after writing was well under way did I become aware that they were three pieces of the same composition. From the start these songs were about the journey of making changes. This piece was a bit like finding your way around a dark room for the first time. There is an excitement in not knowing what you'll find, but you're aware that you might stumble and be injured at any moment.

This track was previously released online as an INTERNET ONLY RELEASE (IOR) release on the original MP3.com and at the Artist Community web sites, and as part of a Digital Automatic Music (D.A.M.) CD through MP3.com.

INSTRUMENT VOICING: All from the Roland JV-35, voices used on this track are Piano, Fretless Bass, Mellow Piano, Analog Strings, Nature Pad, and drum.

HARDWARE/SOFTWARE: Roland JV-35, Performa 6400 Mac, my friend MasterTracks Pro, a DBX gate, an Aphex Aurel Exciter, Tascam board, M-Audio SOLO firewire interface and Garage Band to get the track out of MasterTracks, iTunes to convert it from AIFF to MP3. And Dreamweaver and Photoshop CS2 to build this page. Many thanks to all those whose hard work on these items made it possible for me to share this with you.
