ABOUT: This track came out of a perdiod of ongoing introspection and meditation. It looks like the first recording happened on Tuesday January 31, 1995, ending at 11:31pm. That date became the working title until, on Feb 18, 1995, the title was changed to "January Ends". Then with the work on the track done on March 29th the song was renamed "Kundalini Rising".
The hard drive I was using failed at some point, and all data was lost, so I recreated the song from scratch, which became "version 2" and was released on my original Three Song cassette sampler. Fortunately the data from my drive was later recovered (thank you, Christina!) and this track was given the "version 1" designation. A mix dated March 29th became the new master version, with work ongoing in July 1997 and even into April 1998, which are probably the versions of the track that were released on the original MP3.com in 1999 or 2000. There was additional work done on Nov 8, 2002, with the latest mastering completed on Jan. 16, 2004 at 12:06am. That is the version of the song that is presented here.
I hope you will enjoy this track. If you do, please leave a tip if you can. Either way, please let me know what you think (good or bad, your comments are helpful and very welcome). |
| INSTRUMENT VOICING: These are all Roland voices from the JV-35. I do not recall which Mac used while recording this track, but my guess is the old Performa 6400. Not used much these days, but it's still plugged in and sitting over over in the corner! |
| HARDWARE/SOFTWARE: Roland JV-35, a Macintosh computer, my friend MasterTracks Pro, a DBX gate, an Aphex Aurel Exciter, Tascam board, M-Audio SOLO firewire interface and Bias Peak to get the track out of MasterTracks, Audio2SWF for Flash conversion (coming soon). And Dreamweaver and Photoshop CS2 to build this page. Many thanks to all those whose hard work on these items made it possible for me to share this with you. |

Hey buddy, can you spare a buck (or so)?
I wish it were the start of a joke. I won't begin to try to tell you that what is happening in my life right now is any worse than what is happening in yours. Times are tough.
But making music is one of the things I do for a living. And I need to ask that - if you are financially able to do so - you click on the Donate button, which will take you to our Paypal page where you can make a donation for this track in any amount.
We are all experiencing hardship to some degree this year, or know someone who is. My family and I have not been exempt from the recession, and every contribution helps a lot. Once you are done with PayPal, click here to download the DRM-free MP3. |
